How it works
HGH stimulates growth and cell reproduction largely via IGF-1, driving childhood growth and influencing muscle, bone and fat metabolism throughout life. Pharmaceutical somatropin replaces the hormone in people whose pituitary doesn't produce enough.
What the research shows
For approved uses — paediatric and adult growth hormone deficiency, Turner syndrome and other defined conditions — the evidence is extensive and decades deep. For anti-aging in healthy adults, trials show modest body-composition changes with real side effects (fluid retention, joint pain, insulin resistance) and no demonstrated longevity benefit.
