Selank

TP-7

Approved in Russia · unapproved in the West

Semax's anxiolytic sibling — a synthetic analogue of the immune peptide tuftsin, developed in Russia as an anti-anxiety nasal spray said to work without sedation or dependence. Western evidence is nearly absent.

At a glance

  • Developed from tuftsin, an immune-system peptide
  • Russian trials report non-sedating anxiety reduction
  • No Western regulatory submissions or major trials
  • Unapproved in Australia, the US and Europe

How it works

Selank is proposed to modulate GABAergic signalling and enkephalin breakdown, with effects on anxiety and stress response reported in Russian studies. It may also influence BDNF and immune markers.

What the research shows

A handful of small Russian trials — all in a single journal, the most recent from 2015 — report reduced anxiety comparable to benzodiazepines without sedation. These studies are small, rarely blinded, and unreplicated in Western research, and no trial has ever been registered internationally.

Regulatory status

Australia

Like Semax, Selank has no entry in the Poisons Standard, but it is not on the ARTG — so importing or supplying it for therapeutic use is unlawful outside TGA access pathways.

Worldwide

Registered in Russia as an anxiolytic (for mild anxiety). Not approved by the FDA, EMA or TGA, and rarely studied outside Russia.
